Default Yadi, Wainwright Lead Cards Win

It was a team effort, but Yadier Molina led the Cardinals with 2 home runs and 3 rbis and Adam Wainwright pitched 7 scoreless innings as the Cardinals beat the Cubs in St. Louis on Mother's Day 5-0. Matt Carpenter also chipped in with a 2 run homer for his first career hit off his college buddy Jake Arrieta. Trevor Rosenthal followed Adam with a 1-2-3 8th inning in which he struck out the side, and Kevin Siegrist finished off the shutout with a 1-2-3 9th inning. All the starting 8 position players had at least one hit each. There were also some nice defensive plays by Cardinals players. Nice game and the big crowd was entertained.

Great overall effort by the Cardinals. Wainwright looked like Wainwright. Yadi, Carp, and Yadi supplied the pop. Arrieta was under attack the whole time he was on the mound. Rosie and Siegrist got 2 Ks each to finish off the Cubs.

Taking 2 out of 3 from the Cubs felt real nice.
Baseball is a game to be played hard and enjoyed fully!

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than to be good.

Proud sponsor of my two favorite Cardinal 2Bs of all time Albert "Red" Schoendienst and Julian Javier.

Yes it did. I expect them to get tougher as the season goes along. You never can tell, of course. But for one thing they are a bit dinged up right now. Kris Bryant was ill - they never did say what his illness is - and missed all three games. Jason Heyward is on the DL with a sore finger. Jon Jay played only one inning and left with a stiff back. Ben Zobrist played some, but he has a sore shoulder. Those are all some people they are counting on.

The Cardinals beat two good pitchers in Lester and Arrieta.

Greg Garcia is really in a slump at the plate for the Cards. Matheny said Dexter Fowler is still bothered with his shoulder when throwing. That surely was a bad base running play he made getting picked off first in the first game.
