The Cardinals "hospital" crew...

The Cardinals "hospital" crew has just swelled by 2 more. Allen Craig is back on the DL with a pulled hamstring issue, suffered in Wednesday's game against SF. That is a major loss. OF Adron Chambers is on his way from Memphis to take his spot.

Kyle McClellan has injured his elbow, and could be lost for the season. Apparently, he has suffered some discomfort in it for awhile. His spot will be filled with Brandon Dickson.

SAN FRANCISCO • The Cardinals will lose relief pitcher Kyle McClellan and outfielder-first baseman Allen Craig to the disabled list today. Craig's loss is expected to extend no longer than 15 days. McClellan may be lost for the season.

Appearing in Thursday's seventh inning, McClellan called catcher Yadier Molina to the mound after his second pitch to third baseman Emmanuel Burriss caused right elbow pain. McClellan later admitted to experiencing discomfort in the area for the past two weeks. McClellan said he had increasingly noticed the sensation during everyday chores as well as pitching.

"It's one of those things where you try to walk that fine line between regular soreness and something that might be a little more," McClellan said. "It's definitely frustrating."

McClellan had not pitched for three days prior to Thursday's outing in which he was charged with two hits, two walks and two earned runs.

"I didn't think it was anything too serious," McClellan said. "I thought it was just stuff we deal with on a daily basis in the bullpen. It didn't get to the point that I got to today that I didn't think I could pitch."

Nationals injuries are becoming a comedy of casualties...

Nationals injuries are becoming a comedy of casualties

The Washington Nationals’ blight of physical maladies finally reached total absurdity Tuesday afternoon when Stephen Strasburg, pitching in a downpour, was apparently attacked by the topical analgesic balm, Hot Stuff, that pitchers sometimes rub on their bodies to keep them loose, limber and ornery....

... when it rains very hard, goo can dilute and run. And you never know where it will travel.

On Tuesday afternoon, Strasburg allowed four runs in four innings in a 6-1 loss to San Diego, three of those runs in the first inning after three dawdling Nats allowed a simple popup to drop for a “double.” After the game, Manager Davey Johnson listed Strasburg’s hardships,....

“The Hot Stuff on Stras,” Johnson said. “I don’t know how it got where it got, but it wasn’t comfortable. . . . Somehow it got the wrong place.”

When asked for additional details, pitching coach Steve McCatty said, “I’m not gonna touch that.”

Wall Street Journal Op-Ed (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304192704577404424241146562.html?mod=googlenews_wsj)

... the Chicago Cubs...

Wall Street Journal Op-Ed

... the Chicago Cubs must contemplate the only solution that might restore the team to glory: Tear down Wrigley Field.

Destroy it. Annihilate it. Collapse it with the sort of charges that put the Sands Hotel out of its misery in Vegas. Implosion or explosion, get rid of it. That pile of quaintness has to go. Not merely the structure, but the ground on which it stands.

... it's a false heaven—the bases, trestles, ivy, wooden seats and bleachers, the towering center-field scoreboard—all of it must be ripped out and carried away like the holy artifacts were carried out of the temple in Jerusalem, heaped in a pile and burned. Then the ground itself must be salted, made barren, covered with a housing project, say, a Stalinist monolith, so never again will a shrine arise on that haunted block. As it was with Moses, the followers and fans, though they search, shall never find its bones....

The Cubs pre-Wrigley: 2,971 wins, 2,152 losses.

The Cubs since (before Monday): 7,382 wins, 7,703 losses....

What will happen when the Cubs walk away from Wrigley? They will forget, and as they forget, they will win. Think of 100 years in Wrigley as 40 years in the wilderness. It's time for a new generation to be born, untouched by the slavery of endless defeat.

Whitey would approve.

Shane Robinson was recalled to replace him on the roster. I imagine Robinson and Schumaker will share the time in center. Or maybe Beltran will play some center.
The Cardinals put center fielder Jon Jay, whose right shoulder has been balky since he ran into the wall chasing a home run here on April 19, on the 15-day disabled list today.

Jay, whose lone hit in his last 15 at-bats was a bunt single on Monday, said he never really had been right since he had futilely chased a home run hit by Cincinnati's Drew Stubbs here.

"It's been bothering me for a while," said Jay. "Even when I came back, I still felt it. I wanted to be out there and do the most I could. But it's gotten to the point where it's better to take a step back now and get some rest."
Jay, still hitting .343, had been diagnosed with a sprained right shoulder.

Just want to introduce myself in my first posting. My username is in honor of the funniest (intentionally that is)website for St Louis sports fans www.joesportsfan.com run by 3 nutty guys Josh Bacott, Matt Sebeck, and Chris Files. I don't have anything to do with the site but enjoy it. If any of you have not visited the site I urge you to go. Their weekly podcast and videos are hilarious.

Well that's all I can think of to post now will post more in future.
